MALAYAN PRINCE IH.K. VOLUNTEER WAS LOVER OF DEFENCE CORPS. ENGLISH EX-TUTOR'S
WIFE
(Continued from Page 5)
They went to the bedroom and considerable force was used to open the door.
When they got in Mrs. Preedy was not in the bedroom. She was in an inner room called the "mosquito room," and was asked if there was anyone else in the room. She said there was not.
Mr. Preedy looked round and saw the co-respondent crouching near a dressing table.
Raja Mohamed's slippers were outside the door and, on seeing that he was discovered, he said: "Sorry, sir," and bolted as fast as he could, knocking over something in the hall.

.
"No. 448. In accordance with the Regulations as to grant, forfeiture, attempting the Efficiency Medal, His Excel- restoration and other matters concern- explana-lency the Governor has been pleased to

EFFICIENCY MEDAL Sergeant George Edward Leonard Johnson.
She first of all declared her love for the correspondent and her in- tention of having him and also re- ferred to her husband's conduct as being some justification for her action:
She also did that again in a letter she wrote that night to Mr. Walker saying she would do anything she could to right the wrong she had done "the boy" and not trying to excuse her conduct.
On May 10, when going to Eng- land, Mrs. Preedy wrote:
"The chief reason I took the poi- son was because I thought that if I died the Raja would be able to keep his job-I didn't want to be respondsible for the ruin of his career."
Mr. Justice Hodson said: "I feel satisfied beyond doubt that adultery has been committed, and that, what- ever may have been the actual dates when it was committed, the circumstances of April 17 are such as to lead me to draw the necessary conclusion that an adulterous as80 ciation existed between these two people."
JUDGE'S REFERENCE TO NATIVE WOMEN It was a case, Mr. Justice Hodson added, in which the husband had to ask for the exercise of the Court's discretion.
During his wife's absence in Eng- land he committed adultery with native women on occasions, but he disclosed this to his wife on her return, and he had disclosed it to the Court.
"I see no reason why there should | be any refusal of a divorce on that account," the Judge said.
A delay in the husband's dis closure seemed to have been due partly to the fact that he was in Malaya when he first made it, and it was not passed on to the solici tors acting for him in London or disclosed in the petition in the or dinary way.
It was not set out on paper until just before the hearing began.
Mr. Justice Hodson exercised his tion in favour of Mr. Freedy ited him a decree nisi, with
