STRANGE ATTACK| MASTER PUZZLED

IN KOWLOON

ANOTHER SHOOTING AFFAIR TOOK PLACE IN KWEI LUNG STREET, SHAMSHUIPO, THIS MORNING WHEN INDIAN CON: STABLE NO. 622 FIRED AT AN UNKNOWN CHINESE.

Chiu Chin-nam, a 16-year-old student, was walking in Kwei Lung Street shortly after 9.15 a.m. when he was attacked for no apparent reason by a Chinese.

His shouts brought an Indian constable to the scene and his as- sailant, on seeing the policeman, started to run.

Called on to stop, the assailant continued running and the stable fired one round, which did not take effect. A large crowd gathered and the man escaped.

The student was taken to the Kowloon Hospital where he was found to be suffering from abra- sions on the chest. He was treat- ed, but not detained.

BEGGING WITH $58 IN POCKET

A 69-year-old widow, Chan Kui, who had $58.71, a gold ring and a pair of gold ear-rings at the time of her arrest, was this morning charged before Mr. Q. A. A. Mac fadyen with begging.

She told the Court that the money was her life savings, which

Mr. Collis stated that when his "boy" had brought him his morn- ing tea, the dog was under the bed where he habitually slept. He must have slipped out of an open door. A 27-year-old boiler maker, Lam, was charged at the Central Magistracy this morning before Mr. R. A. D. Forrest, with larceny of a white metal wrist watch from Wong Chu, 27, fireman, on board the motor vessel Tricula, lying at the Taikoo Dock, and with illegal pawning of the watch. Defendant was fined $25 or two months' hard labour on the first count, and bound over on the second" count."
