ONE MILLION SEARCHES IN SHANGHAI IN ONE MONTH
Shanghai, To-day.
In an effort to curb the activi- ties of terrorists, the police of the International Settlement carried out more than a million searches in the month of April, according to figures released by the Municipal authorities.
These included the searching of some 950,000 pedestrians, 3,000 motor cars,
6,900 buses, 12,500 trams and trolley-buses, 41,000 rickshaws, 9,390 cyclists and 320 lodging houses and hotels.

Canton, To-day. As a result of Anglo-Japanesc disagreement regarding shipping on the Pearl River the Shipoke Maru, chartered by the Japanese Government and due in Hong Kong this morning, has been diverted to Macao.
It is learned from a well-in- formed source that one of the rea- sons for the disagreement was that the Japanese intended a bi-week- ly passenger service between Can- ton and Hong Kong, whereas the British were allowed only a fort- nightly service.
