The United States submarine Squalus, with 62 men on board, is reported to be "submerged in trou- ble" off White Island.

It has been decided to declare illegal and to dissolve three Alsace semi-political organisa- tions, the "Jungmannschaft," the "Bund Erwin von Steinbach," and the "Aelsaessischer Volksbildung- sverein," which has Nazi affinities.

*WORST OF 13 CABINETS'

Mr. Lloyd George, speaking at á London rally described the Govern- ment as the worst of the thirteen he had seen in his fifty years in politics.

"This is a very unlucky number," he said, "I have seen Governments of every party with men of great ability, of considerable vision and imagination.

"This, without any qualification at all, is the worst of the thirteen.

"It is a calamity that such a Gov- ernment should be in power when the whole fabric of civilisation is rotting, when human freedom is being challenged in almost every .continent.”
