SPORTING DECLARATION COSTS YORKSHIRE THEIR GAME WITH GLOUCESTER
London, To-day. Rain seriously curtailed play in most of the first-class cricket matches, which concluded yesterday.
It is evident from the scores, however, that County captains are making great efforts to secure definite resu'ts, even, as happened in several occasions, they lost maximum points.
It was a sporting declaration on the part of A. B. Sellars which cost Yorkshire their match with Glouces- ter.
With a slender lead of 26 on the declared Yorkshire first innings, their second innings when they had
to Thanks scored 162 for 7. fine fighting innings by Ben Bar- off nett, Gloucester then knocked the required runs for the loss only 4 wickets.
Essex were then dismissed for 109 off and Glamorgan knocked these for the loss of 5 wickets.
