London, To-day.

A communique was issued by the British Govern- ment on the Trans-Jordan question yesterday.

The communique states that the recent presence in London of Taufiq Pasha, Chief Minister of Trans-Jordan, afforded an opportunity of dis- cussing the working of the agreement govern- ing relations between Britain and the mandat- ed territory of Trans-Jordan.

The

Government found them- selves able to meet a number of Taufiq Pasha's suggestions as con- tributing effectively to further progress of Trans-Jordan towards the goal of full independence.

The Government agreed in prin- ciple to formation of a Council of Ministers or Cabinet, each member of which would be in charge of a department and would be respon- sible to the Amir,

The Government would consent to deletion from the agreement of the existing restriction upon the Amir's powers of raising and main- taining military forces.

CONSULAR POWER ·

The Government agrees to ap- pointments of Trans-Jordan con- sular representatives in certain neighbouring Arab countries.

In a number of other matters the Government accepted the Amir's suggestions, the general effect being to increase the dis- cretionary authority of the Amir's Government. Reuter.
