The Air Raid Precautions Officer an- nounces that it is proposed to hold a special course with a view to training twelve Chinese A.R.P. Instructors,

Candidates should be over 25 years of age and should be willing to give A.R.P. lectures in Chinese to the re- sidents of the Colony.

It should be understood

that the

work is entirely voluntary, and a fee of $4.00 per lecture is payable from Government funds.

the present day cannot fail to be a source of anxiety, constituting, as they do, a potential menace to all the sea routes to these islands and through the Mediterranean.

"Scientific methods of dealing with under-water craft. have great ly improved, but depend ultimately on a sufficient number of trained men and weapons of the right kind. The training of our Merchant Navy for self-defence is well in hand; it is to be hoped that the personnel and material for attacking these sea pests will be ready and waiting should they be required."
