Merritt's Fine Start
London, To-day. Merritt, the former New Zealand leg-break bowler, made an aus- picious start to his cricket career with Northants and was chiefly responsible for their fine win over Cambridge University.
Merritt took 7 for 69 in Cam- bridge's first innings to dismiss them for 254 and 5 for 92 in the second to dismiss them for 244.
In batting, Timms and Brookes both made centuries.
