THE CHINA MAIL; APRIL 26, 1989.

I know

SEE it quite a lot, you know. I sit

opposite you in ferries and watch you bring out your compact and your puff to fluff powder over your face. I walk behind

you in

cinemas when you are coming out and watch you doing the same there.

I look at you across restaurants and in cloakrooms and I know just what kind of a girl you are.

Sometimes the puff is new and spotless; that means in this respect anyhow you're that right kind of vanity girl. Sometimes it is a bit doubtful; that means you're a bit careless. And usually, it is

to use." That grubby it isn't fit means you must really pull your self together.

I know you're all busy people and that it isn't always easy to do every- thing you plan to do-like giving your puff a weekly wash.

But how's this for a way out of the difficulty.

Instead of using a puff, use a wad of cotton-wool and throw it away after using it. It works in your handbag too, because you can wrap it in a pretty chiffon handkerchief, and there you are.

Apart from cleanliness, the im- portance of using something clean for your powdering is that a dirty puff eventually brings spots. And

the same thing goes for, a rouge puff.

I know you by your handbag.

And I mean its inside.

You by your POWDER

PUFF..

A man once said to me, "What I do dislike so much about a lot of girls is the awful state their hand- bags are in. Apart from often be- ing too full, they always look so mucky!"

A weekly clean-out of your bag is essential. It doesn't take very long with a brush and a spot of benzine.

I know you by your comb,

If many of its teeth are missing; if it is dirty and full of loose hairs,

I think.

"Here is a careless girl who doesn't think enough of her hair to wash her brushes and combs every time she has a fresh set."

And broken combs properly.

I know you by the lining and the

hanging loop of your coat.

I've often seen you looking rather uncomfortable when you take off

your coat in a restaurant, and your friend hurries to help you turn it over the back of the chair.

That shows that you know that broken loops and sleeve linings that are half out do not show a fastidi- ous woman.

Why not do something about it? "I haven't the time," is often only an excuse for not wanting to make the effort, but...don't you think that it's all well worth while?

This gracious,
