DASHING FORM BY TSUI YAN-PUI THRILLS LARGE CROWD

Ho Starts Well, Unable To Withstand Pressure

TO-DAY'S TENNIS

S.A.Rumjahn To Meet Tsui Wai-Pui

Two of the most commanding personalities in local tennis will be on view on the Stand Court of the Hong Kong Cricket Club to-day when Tsui Wai-pui, holder of the title, meets S. A. Rumjahn, holder on many occasions in the past, in the semi-final of the Colony Tennis Championships.

Tsui has already beaten H. D. Rumjahn, on that occasion prov- ing much too fast for his veteran opponent.

"S. A." is probably slightly bet- ter as a singles player than his cousin and is far fitter.

For that reason this afternoon's match will probably be even more interesting than the previous one when "H. D.," after winning the first set, collapsed badly.

There should be a capacity crowd in attendance and would-be specta-| tors are advised to arrive early.

Starting tentatively, Tsui Yan-pui later found his touch to sweep the aggressive Ho Ka-lau off the Stand Court yesterday to win by 7-5, 6-0 and enter the semi-final of the Open Singles, Tennis event.

Ho did not have the necessary ground-strokes to match Tsui, once the latter got going and he was never in the picture in the last set when Tsui flash- ed out some shots which were absolutely unreturn- able.

Ho has revealed very consis- tent form in his tournament mat- ches thus far and quite a crowd had assembled to see how he would fare when really extended.

They learned that he is very vulnerable on the backhand, his

Ho brought off every conceivable shot in the most confident manner court and his speed in covering gave the lie to those who consider- ed that he was not as fast as last season. I must here confess that I was one of them."

I can think of no more fitting wind-up to the tournament that a singles final between the Tsui brothers. As matters now stand, I can see nobody stopping either of them contesting it.

TRUE BLUE AGAIN

So successfully did he pursue these methods that in the space of 10 minutes Ho was leading 4-0 and,, remembering Tsul's exhibition against Crawford, when he went all to pieces when the latter started to get the better of him in the last. set, I had visions of a major upset.
