French Concession Order Arouses Chinese

Battle Of The Barricades And Shop Strike

Shanghai, To-day.

A battle between some 200 Chinese civilians and the French Police Force occurred in the French Settlement yesterday, following which over 100 were taken into custody, because the French authorities prohibited the flying of the Chinese national flag.

Madrid, April 14.

It is reported that about 1,200,- 000 people were killed during the Spanish civil war which came to an end last month.

Of this number, 450,000 army men and 750,000 civilians met their death. ́
