A carbide drum, which was being welded at No. 28, Shantung Street, Mongkok, exploded yesterday afternoon, resulting in five persons, including а 12-year-old boy- student, who was passing by, being injured and later admitted to the Kowloon Hospital for treatment.

Four of the injured have been detained in hospital, the fifth was discharged after treatment.
