FOR BRITISH LINES

.1

New 'European air routes for British 'planes have been announced by Imperial Airways and Bri- tish Airways as a preliminary to the merger of the two companies.

Officials said that in future the Croydon to Paris route would be operated jointly with eight services daily. Their new routes to be operated exclusively by British Airways would be Heston- Berlin-Warsaw, Heston-Frankfurt-Budapest and Heston-Brussels.

Mr. C. H. W, Andrew of London was taking on no light task when he took on a £100 bet that he could not go on water skis, dress- ed in full evening kit, without get- ting wet (other than from spráy). The man who challenged him was Mr. Leslie Hardy of Seaview, Islè of Wight, where the unique wager was bought out. Mr. Andrew won the bet quite easily, however, as these pictures show. I'hoto shows Mr. Andrew "landing” after his spectacular water ski, ride in full evening klt-an easy winner.
