Bay's

PAYS DIVIDEND OF $434.30 Rose Elect's Success In Easter Stakes

GLORIOUS weather greeted the opening event on the Second Day of the Second Extra Race Meet

ing.

There was only a small crowd present in the morning but after lunch all the enclosures were packed..

As was generally expected, Rose Elect won the Easter Stakes. Bril- liantly ridden by Mr. Encarnacao, this pony responded well in the last quarter to win comfortably by two lengths from Bear Claw.

Dividends' were extremely small until the Eighth Race, when Dis- covery Bay (Mr. S. L. Yuen) won unexpectedly to pay his supporters $434.30 for a win and $75.50 for a 1038. place.

The Ninth Race also provided an upset Fei Ying (Mr. Proulx) paying $156.50 for a win.

the idea of "killing" in the initial stages and just qoncentrates on getting them back, he will be dis- tinctly more useful to the.com- bination.

I expect Duff and Pearce to win as the latter will have benefitted greatly from the experience gained last week,

NEW COMBINATIONS

Another fairly interesting match should be that between. A. V. Gosano and J. J. Remedios and Stephen Wong and Lim Thian-tet on No. 8 Court. Both these com- bination, as combinations, are new to the tournament, but both have met with real success. A good fight should eventuate with the re- sult very open.

Taul Yan-pui should have little difficulty in beating Alec Crawford in the only other Tournament game.
