SIX MEN DIE IN MASS EXECUTION
New York, March 25. Six convicts died in the electric chair in Columbia Prison, South Carolina, to-day, in the order in! which they entered the office of the captain of the prison guard, J. Olin Saunders, when, more than a year ago, they broke from their cells and tried to force him to pro- vide them with a car to make their
escape.
They stabbed the captain to death when they realised they would be recaptured.
The first to die to-day in this,:
that the biggest mass execution South Carolina has ever carried out, Was 25-year-old William Gentry.
TEAR-GAS-COLLAPSE
This man led the five other men, whose ages ranged from 23 to 41, into the office of Captain Saun- ders, who was seated unarmed at his desk.
They barricaded the door, and Saunders relayed their instructions through a window.
The prisongovernor stood out- side for two hours pleading with the men to surrender. Finally he sent for State troopers.
The Governor offered clemency if they would come out, but when they refused the troopers smashed the door and released a barrage of tear-gas. Then the six convicts col- lapsed,

Tomb May Be Link With Solomon -
Cairo (Egypt), March 20.
A tomb, believed to be that of King Solomon's father-in-law, King Pausen nes, has been found at Sanel- hagr, site of the ancient city of Tanis, 40 miles from Cairo.
The discovery has been made by Professor Montet, of Strasbourg University.
