If three cases reported to the Police last night are not mere coincidences, there is an acid- throwing maniac at large in Hong Kong.

All three cases are identical in effect; all three victims were young women.

First report was by Ho Man- ying, an attractivé "dancing hostess aged 19. She told the police she was walking in Queen's Road, Central, yester- 'day afternoon shortly before 3 o'clock. A man approached her and, on drawing level, threw acid on her leg before she realised his intention.

The injuries received proved very painful and she was for- ced to enter Queen Mary Hos- pital for treatment.

She was able to name her as- sailant.

A dancing hostess was also the second victim. She was Ma Po-lin, 20, of the China Em- porium Ballroom. At about 7.30 last night she was on her way to the Emporium. When near the Queen's Theatre, she felt a pain in her buttock and found that her dress had been burn- ed by acid. She did not know how the acid came to be on her.. The third victim was a mar-: ried woman named Pak Lin- chu, aged 27.

She had just left the Queen's Theatre after the 7.15 perform- ance and was walking near Chiu Lung: Street when she was accosted by a man called her by a no attention and. walking.
