Territorial Army To Be Doubled: Raised To 340,000

The doubling of the Territorial Army was announcTM ed by the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Cham- berlain, in the House of Commons yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Chamberlain said: "The House will remember the recent statement in which I announced that every aspect of our national life, including the national defence programmes, would be ex- amined anew.

"In the course of this review the Government has been impressed with the need of availing them- selves still further of the spirit of voluntary service which is manifest throughout the country.
