CLOSED SENATE SESSION DISCUSSES NEUTRALITY ACT: AID TO S. AMERICA

Washington, To-day. The Senate foreign relations committee, in a closed session yesterday, voted to make the proposed new neutrality legislation the "special order of business" at its meeting on March 29. Yesterday the committee heard testimony from

Mr. Sumner Welles (Assistant Secretary of State), Admiral Leahy (Chief of Naval Opera- tion), and General Marshall (U.S. Army De- puty Chief of Staff).

All declared that the manufac- ture by the United States of ships, munitions and arms for South

America, as proposed by Senator Key Pittman, would lessen, any threat of aggression Western Hemisphere.

BOY REFUGEE'S

PLEA TO KING

Crying, in a state of collapse and tightly clutching a letter to the King pleading for help, a boy refugee, aged fourteen, was found by a watchman on the Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead, where the King was due later.

The boy, Leo Levi, who could not speak English, told a German- -speaking police officer that his parents. had been in a German concentration camp, but had been released.

The boy, parted from his par- ents for four months, homesick and heartbroken, had written his letter to the King in an effort to be reunited with his parents.
