Reme- dios, who is a well-known badmin- ton player, brought several of these strokes into play, his angle volley- ing and drop shots in the corners just over the net, frequently beat- ing Fincher and Hung. His best stroke, however, was a top-spin drive which dropped quickly, com- pletely deceiving the veteran Tournament pair.
Although Remedios' backhand was very reliable, his forehand vol- leying let him down on many occa- sions. Gosano was content to drive from the baseline, but frequently stormed the net where his inter- ceptions secured several winners.
Hung's usually reliable backhand drive misfired more often than not, while instead of playing to Gosano, who was very weak at the net, both Hung and Fincher concentrated on Remedios with disastrous results, the latter's accurate backhand vol- leying scoring outright winners.
