IN COLONY
B
From reliable source, the "China Mail" learns that Madame Chiang Kai-shek First Lady of China, is in the Colony, having ar- rived by plane from Chungking.
It is also learned that Madame- Chiang was accompanied by Mr. W. H. Donald and two nurses, and has come for medical treatment.
Madame Chiang will return to
night.
Official circles emphasise that there is no general Chungking within the next fort-
mobilisation but large numbers of young men have been called to the colours and it is estim-]
ated that between 90,000 and 100,000 additional PEACE OFFER troops are being sent to the Ruthenian fron- tier.
It is understood that these mea- Bures have been taken not only owing to the general international situation, but because the Ruman- ian Government feels that it is necessary to take serious account of the reports of the advance of German troops through Slovakia towards Ruthenia whose march would bring them close to the Rumanian frontier.
