Inside Left Berth Still Gives Cause For Anxiety: Mrs. L. Silva Gives Magnificent Performance
CAER CLARK CUP CHAMPIONS HAVE SIX REPRESENTATIVES
(By "STICKS")
LTHOUGH the Interport Selection Committee have selected seven forwards to complete the list of 15 players to travel to Shanghai during the Easter Holidays, there are one or two posi- tions which must still give cause for anxiety, these being the in- side-left and left-half berths.
The final trial was held yesterday morning on the "Y" ground when a large gathering of spectators saw the Interport probables, beat Recreio "A", leaders of the Brawn Cup League by three clear goals, although changes were made in the Interport team every quarter of an hour.

"Y" Ladies Have Six!
:
"y" Ladies, Champions of the Caar Clark Cup League, are re- presented by six players, while St. Andrew's Ladies, the probable runners-up have two. Hong Kong Ladies have three and C. B. A. Ladies two Diocesan Girls' School and Seaforth Ladies, both Brawn Cup teams, have one representative cách.
But for the fact that Miss Mario Smith is at present in Australia, the Interport forward line would have comprived_fivo “Y" Ladies.

minute of the game. and
although Mrs. Burnett was taken off after the first 15 minutes, she was by far the most impressive of the three right-wingers on view.
MISS HARKER SHINES Miss Harker made certain of her position among the forwards with an encouraging performance in support of Mrs. Burnett, her back- ing up of any individual effort and particularly her fine understanding with her right-wing paving the way for several grand openings.
Mrs. Dalziel, filling an unaccu- stomed position at inside-left, was the best of the three players who filled this berth yesterday. I was most disappointed : with Mrs. Akroyds' performance, for although I had nominated her for this posi- tion in the Interport team, it seem ed that the slippery conditions left her very helpless. Miss Buchanan, who was brought into the side dur- ing the last quarter, was very poor.
MISS FOWLER ERRATIC Mrs. Lunson was very safe in goal and made three or four well-timed clearances, but the full backs were never at their best, Miss White was the pick of the three, however, and covered her colleague's approaches. admirably. Her clearances were not often very accurate, but she wasted little time in getting rid of the ball. Miss Fowler was erratic in her clearances and was often guilty of "sticks," giving away, many free
hits.
She would do well to curb the de- sire to clout the ball heavily and take a little more time. Mrs. Wil mot, who came in as loft back during the third period, was a little more accurate with lior clearances, but rarely came across to cover Miss White's attempts. to intercept.
VERY SOUND PAIR Hong Kong can rest assured that in Mrs. Stone (right-half) and Miss I. Woolley (contre-half) they possess probably two of the best intermedi- atea the Colony has ever had. Mrs, Stone was perfect and rarely bun-

a very fine turn of speed, but her evident lack of experience let her down badly and consequently Miss Booker received little or no support from her. The latter played her usual reliable game.
AN "EYE-OPENER”
To close this commentary without a word of appreciation to Recreio "A" would be criminal. They gave a very fine display and incidentally provided a real "eye-opener" in Mrs. L. Silva, at left-half.
I feel certain, and I am sure I will be backed up by the majority of the spectators who witnessed yesterday's trial when I say that she would have walked into the Interport team in this position, on yesterday's display.

It is indeed a great pity that her was not forwarded to the Selection Committee in time, as sho would have forged the final link in a formidable half-back trio.
Against the Burnett-Harker, Greig-Harker and Ewing-Booker partnerships she was magnificent and had won the admiration of the crowd after the first quarter's" play. Her absence from the Interport team is a great loss.
..
Recreio's two full-backs, their right-half and their centre forward were excellent, and hud the ground boen dry and the foothold firm, would probably have scored one or two goals.
