No Powder Marks
Inspector Bach Hodges came into the death room and found District Attor-. ney Martin bending over the body of a girl on the floor. A guard was stationed at the door. Two uniformed men roamed about the room, prying into things like curious.

"Not necessarily," Tom." Not when the girl was smart like this one."

Hodges nodded, "Sounds like logical reasoning,.Tom, she'd shot herself there would have been powder marks, sure enough." "Furthermore," the D. A, went on, striving to restrain his elation, "I've got the kid downstairs who did it. He was mad about the girl. Jealous as the devil,"
"You sure, work fast, Tom. Who is the kid and who was he jealous over?". "Name of Bob Emery, And he went green every time anyone else looked at her, expecially a bird named Travis She was giving Travis a lot of time and Emery found it out, came up here to the girl's room and had it out with her. Probably the old stuff about kill- ing her unless she would be his.
The inspector blew smoke rings at the ceiling, eyes narrowed.
"Where'd you pick this Emery kid up?"
"At his house. The gun is his. He admitted it!"
