Crawford is recalled to the back row of the scrum, in place of G. D. Shaw (Sale), and Roberts takes up the full-back posi- tion he had to vacate through injury, thus displacing W. N. Penman (United Services).
It is obvious from the choices and the speedy selection that the
Scottish Rugby Union selectors
F. D. Hanter, T. A. Pearce, came to the conclusion, which was.

SCOTLAND'S XV
The Scottish fifteen to meet England at ̈ Murrayfield, Edin- burgh, in the last Rugby inter- national match of the season on March 18 have been chosen as fol- low:-
G. Roberts (Watsonians);
J. R. 8. Innes. (Aberdeen Uni-
versity),
D. J. Macrae (St. Andrew's Uni-
versity),
R. W. Shaw (Glasgow High
School F.P.), and
K. C. Fyfe (London Scottish); R. B. Bruce Lockhart (London
́Scottish), and ·
T. F. Dorward (Gala); J. C. Henderson

I. N. Graham (Edinburgh Aca-

Wanderers), and
W. B. Young (King's College
Hospital, London).
of
weakness in pace for following-up that brings about the recall Crawford, whose goal-kicking, of course, should be of value also.
W. B. YOUNG'S EXAMPLE Crawford may be donsidered for- tunate in finding his way back to a pack which produced improved
scrummaging power as a result of sounder packing and determined shoving. Shaw is a man who can wing as well as do his work in the scrum, and although he was not very prominent at Dublin he ap- peared to do all that was asked of him..
Yet a factor in Crawford's selec- tion may be that Young was able to adapt himself to primary work. So why not Crawford, if he makes "up his mind to it?
ROBERTS' RETURN While Crawford's selection may he a surprise to those who saw the courageous Scottish pack at Dublin, it would undoubtedly have been as big surprise had Roberts not returned. His flurrying tackling is still required, but that is no reflec- tion on Perman, who showed bold- ness in going down to the fierce Irish, forward rushes.
That there are not other changes amongst the backa must be due to. hopes for a firm footing and a dry hurt as well as the feeling that such a traging paok" as Ireland fielded- will not be encountered.
Fyfe appears to be the lucky man, | since his Dublin display showed him Iris' pung a bit past his best. -Of Bruce Lockhart, who also came in for criticism, it can always be said that, given a good lot of the ball, he has tremendous potentialities.
Most people would have liked to have seen a really fast winger such ar J. B. Craig (Heriot'a F.P.), and it is unfortunate - that neither ho nor R. H. Dryden (Watsonlans), when they did get "capped," reveal bd the proper temperament,
- All over, however, the selection of this fifteen will, not meet with very much criticism from those who saw the fight, the Scots put up at. Dublin.
