SENSATIONAL STORIES PUB- LISHED. IN THE AMERICAN PRESS ALLEGING THAT THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT WAS SO ALARMED BY ACTS OF IRISH. TERRORISTS THAT IT WAS CON- SIDERING THE USE OF ARM- OURED CARS TO TRANSPORT THE KING AND QUEEN DURING THEIR CANADIAN TOUR WERE UNEQUIVOCALLY DENIED IN OTTAWA.

Mr. H. H. Keenleyside, secretary of the committee making arrange- ments for the tour, said, "It is utter rubbish."

Later an

official announcement was issued from the office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Mackenzie King, which declared: "The King

and Queen are far more effectively protected by the unanimous

affection of their people than they ever can be by armour plate." The statement adds: "The Cana- dian Government is naturally tak ing every reasonable precaution to provide for the safety of the King and Queen during their visit to Canada, but the suggestion that the. Government is anticipating. any disturbances or an outrage such as an attempt on the lives of their Majesties while in Canada is wholly incorrect.

"Moreover, the Government does not believe that conditions in Europe or elsewhere are likely to interfere with the visit.".
