In connection with the supple- mentary Naval Budget of 180,000,- the Finance Minister yes-

terday revealed that this includes 60,000,000yen, the first instal-

ment of a six-year building pro- gramme totalling 1,205,000,000 yen.
The supplementary Budget also includes the sum of 56,000,000 yen, the first instal- ment of a five-year naval air pro- gramme totalling 300,000,000 yen, and 48,000,000 yen, the first instalment of a munitions, replen- ishment programme totalling 188,000,000 yen.
The Navy Minister explained that the Navy's fourth replenish- ment would be worked out on a basis comparable to the largest of other world navies, "with suf- ficient power to overcome any friction arising in connection with construction of a new order in East Asia, while in the event of { the powers most closely related with Japan increasing their armaments, the Japanese navy would map out plans to meet the new situation.”—Reuter.
