for the leader's berth, in spite of the fact that she has played in goal al- most throughout the present season for "Y" Ladies!
Her clover déflections and pace were very much in evidence, while she at- tempted shots from all angles and at all speeds. She gave the opposing de-. fenders a gruelling time and only Miss Wong's speed and timely "long-arm" spoiling prevented several goals.

Ladies).
Colony's probable intermediate line was by no means at its best yesterday. Miss H. Reid, at left-half, being very erratric while her distribution of the ball left much to be desired. It has bean said that she is the fastest lady but playing hockey at the moment, speed should be sacrificed for skill if we are to make our intermediate line invulnerable.
Polished Display Although Miss J. Wong did not find her true form until the second half of the trial, she later gave a very polish- ed display of spoiling and distribution and opened up play to a very big ex- tent. There is no doubt that her spoil- ing is invaluable, but I think it would be a mistake to include her as centre- half, although she should find her posi- tion in the Colony team as left-half, a berth she could quite easily fill. Miss J. Wong's biggest fault is her inability. to keep to her place the centre of the field.
Mrs. I. Stone and Miss I. Woolley, at right-half and centre-half, respective- ly, maintained their usual soundness and did all that was required of them. One of the best performances in the intermediate line was that of Miss B. Greaves, of Diocesan Girls School, bul I am inclined to the opinion that her tack of experience and youth will keep her out of the Interport team.
Best Trio
As far as I can see, the Colony could| do no better than field an intermediate line comprising:
Mrs, 1. Stone, Miss I. Woolley and J. Wong.

Miss G. White consolidated chances for Interport honours with a sound display at right-back for Colours, in both halves, while her partnership with Mrs. Wilmot, in the first-half, and with Miss A. Fowler, in the second proved interesting. Mrs. Wilmot un- fortunately struck an off day, or per- haps the bumpy, nature' of the ground foiled her attempts at making effective clearances. Anyway, she made acveräl
·blunders and did not recover her posi- :tion in time to prevent the opposing right-wing from carrying the ball into the circle. Miss Fowler, who succeed. ed her in the second-half, gave a much better performance and was very cool under pressure,, although appearing at times to be erratic in her distribution. She was, however, instrumental, in partialling Bubduing the strong right- Miss wing forward combination of. "Harker and Mrs. Burnett, mainly through timely interception of passes from Whites' halves.

A Possible Solution! None of the inside-lefts on view yesterday came up to Interport stand- ard, although Mrs. Akroyd, of Seaforth Ladies, who is an inside-forward but who was seen at centre-forward, could quite easily fill the role and very auc- cessfully too.

Miss C. Silva's Last Minute Goal
Recreio "A" secured two valu- able points in the Brawn Cup Len gue yesterday morning when they defeated Hong Kong Ladics, strongest contenders for junior honours, by the only goal of the match scored in practically the last minute of the encounter by Miss C. Silva.
Miss S. Baskett, H. K. Ladies' goalkeeper, played an inspired game for the losers and undoubtedly had much to do with keeping the score down. Recreio were best served by their defence in which Miss P. Gonsalves, at centre-half, was bril- |liant, keeping Miss J. Greig gun dued throughout. Recreio “A's" marking of H. K. Ladies forwards was one of the highlights of the game.
