Lord Marchwood, honorary treasurer of the Conservative Central Office, has issued a frantic appeal for funds to fight a General Election which "may be forced upon us suddenly," writes a London correspondent. Ano an
The appeal takes two forms. There is a gen- eral circular intended for the ordinary Conserva- tive Party membership; and there is a letter, mark- ed "personal" and addressed to the Conservative Party's wealthy supporters, with which is enclosed "a facsimile letter from the Prime Minister which speaks for itself."
The Prime Minister's letter is dated October 15, 1938, and, although couched in careful lan- guage, calls for explanation on two points.
