Britain's 19410 A.R.P. Standard TO Be Reached In '39
London, To-day.
In a speech lasting an hour and three quarters the Lord Privy Seal, Sir John Anderson reviewed in the House of Commons last night a
a number of aspects of A.R.P. and civilian defence. He strongly emphasised the acceleration which had been applied to the Government's plans follow- ing the September crisis, and indicated that the resulting speeding up was of such order as would mean realisation in the present year of aims formerly scheduled for 1941.
Sir John Anderson explained the fra. reorganisation and redistribution of functions between the different departments which had followed his appointment last October, and after speaking about exacuation plans, with which he promised the Minister of Health would deal more fully when the debate is con- tinued to-day, he came to the sup- ply of essential equipment.
