Britain And France Extend Recognition To Franco
CHAMBERLAIN STATEMENT IN COMMONS
LONDON, TO-DAY.
BOTH THE BRITISH AND FRENCH GOVERN- MENTS YESTERDAY ANNOUNCED THAT THEY HAD RECOGNISED GENERAL FRANCO'S GOVERNMENT AS THE LAW- TUL GOVERNMENT OF SPAIN.
The British decision was announced in the House of Commons by Mr. Neville Chamberlain, while a brief communique was issued in Paris to the same effect.
Mr. Chamberlain said the Government had given "very careful consideration" to the position in Spain.
