Club Batting Remains Unimpressive
POLICE SCORE FINE WIN OVER NAVY
(By "ADREM2)
OUTSTANDING figures in the annual match be- tween the United Services and the Hong Kong Cricket Club played over the holidays, were J. E. Richardson, the Civil Service and Club batsman who made 35 and 89 not out, and C. P. O. Paxton, of Navy, who, in the course of the match returned the remarkable bowling figures of 14 for 36.
Club, without the services of Alec Pearce but reinforced by Richardson and N. D. Lloyd, were well and truly beaten. Not for some time has Club's batting been so weak. Eaxton is undoubtedly a good bowler on his day but he secured many of his wickets in the first innings at any rate with, rank bad balis.
Richardson made 35 in Club's first innings but apart from him, it was just a procession! i. Services, after losing Murray enry, went along. in great style Logan and Whitmarsh adding 109 for the second wicket. There was not much to it after that, however. P/O New and Land got a few but the side were all out early on the second day for 175. Lloyd of K. C.C. bowled aggressively to take aix wickets
RICHARDSON AGAIN
Club's recovery in their second venture was again chiefly due to Richardson who carried his bat right through for 89 not out. Alatfield bowled very steadily to take 3 for 18, while Paxton provid- ed the variety to get 6 for 63 lu 18 overs. Club's irnings closed at 186 which set the Services 95 runs to score for a win,
Thanks to some fine bowling by W. Stoker, who is a much better bowler than his recent figures sug- gest, and Divett, Army were then put out for 70.
Most interesting friendly on Saturday was played at Sookunpoo between the first elevens of Kow- loon Cricket Club and Indian Re- creation Club,
