San Francisco, To-day.
To-day's noonday sun rays over Bombay will acti- vate a radio signal which will switch on (at 10.30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, Friday) the vast illuminated system of the $50,000,000 Golden Gate International Exhibition, which is opening to-day.
President Roosevelt delivers the opening address
by radio from Key West, Florida. Seven thousand workers yesterday rushed final preparations for the Exhibition, which covers 400 acres on "Treasure Island," the world's largest artificial island, created in San Fran- cisco Bay..
The buildings and courts include exhibits from every nation border- ing the Pacific except China, as well na European countries, of which France and Italy have in- dividual pavilions.
Norway's exhibits are housed in a Norwegian hunting lodge con- structed in Norway and sent to San Francisco in pleces, complete with patio, tapestries, flowers and grasses.
