BOMBINGS OF JAPANESE SENTRIES
Chungking, To-day. Chinese guerillas have filtered into Hongkew, the Japanese de- fence area in Shanghai, according to a Shanghai dispatch.
On Wednesday two Japanese sentries were killed by guerillas with hand-grenades in Hwa Teh Road.
A report, yet unconfirmed, states that two more Japanese sentries were killed yesterday morning.
Japanese sentries at Garden Bridge across the Soochow Creek searched all Chinese and foreign pedestrians yesterday morning, -Central News.
ARABS CLAIM
INDEPENDENT STATE RIGHTS
London, To-day. Claim for establishment of an independent Arab state
was for- mally submitted when the Arab delegation met the British delega- tion yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Malcolm Macdonald, the Colonies Secretary, opened the dis- cussion by enunciating general suggestions of alternatives to an independent Arab State.
Jamal Husseini, replying, gave reasons why such a State need not be considered incom- patible with the existence of a Jewish minority in Palestine. Discussion on autonomous ma- chinery followed, and embraced past autonomous institutions in Palestine within the meaning of Article Two of the Mandate. Reuter.
