The following are League cricket averages revised to include matches played on Saturday.
E. Zimmern, who headed senior batsmen last week by virtue of a number of not outs, has falien to eighth place and the list is now headed by H. Owen Hughes. A. H. Madar, of I.R.C.,' has been re- markably consistent and has aggregated 142 runs in four innings for a highest score of 48 not out, while Anderson, who made 64 against Civil Service, has climbed lonsiderably.

A QUESTION OF AVERAGES!
(By "ADREM")
It has been drawn to my atten- tion that the average of N. A. E. Mackay, which was shown in the first edition as 21.50 (4 inna.-34 H.S.-0 not outs-aggr. 86) is in- correct. It was pointed out that Mackay's innings against Crai- gengower
22 retired hurt should count as a not out vide Wisden's Notes and Instructions to Umpire which state: "When a batsman has retired owing to ill- ness, injury or some other un- avoidable cause, his innings must be counted as not out.”
Mackay's average is therefore 28.66.

"REVIEWER'S" SPORTS COMMENTARY
Delayed Recognition
One of the main topics for dis- cussion in Scottish Rugby circles at the moment is the question of delayed recognition and the fol- lowing extract from editorial column of the Sports Despatch, of Edinburgh, is quite interesting: Uncertain is the road to Rugby fame. I think Purdie got the length of the then final trial that year, but has rejected, and it is almost as much conspicuous merit at last being re- surprise as it is a pleasure to find his cognised.
Apart from that, the search for a scrum-half rival to T. F. Dorward and the belief held in some quarters that W. R. C. Brydon is the man the makes the selectors have in mind, position a particularly intriguing one.
