The inter-governmental commit- tee on refugees, on which thirty nations are represented, concluded its present meetings in London last night after holding two sessions, at which Lord Winterton presided.

The concluding session of the Evian Refugee Committee yester- day decided to invite Sir Herbert Emerson, League Commissioner for Refugees, to assume the directorship in succession to Mr. George Rublee, who resigned.

Sir Herbert would retain his present League post, and thus se- cure closer co-operation between the Commissioner.

The committee also took. cogni- zance of the projected formation of a private international organisation as an agency to finance émigration. from Germany and to' maintain the
