OBSTACLES

Kwangchowwan, To-day. Japanese gunboats are steaming up the Kiungchow River (Namto Kong) from Hoihow to shell Chinese positions which have been giving trou- ble, according to messagés received here this morning.

Japanese aircraft continue their activity along the banks of the River and also along the north- eastern coast of Hainan Island.

The Chinese troops, have with- drawn from Hoihow and Tsingmai, and retreated southeast.
