UNBORN CHILD IN IRON LUNG
A girl of eighteen was taken to the Brook L.C.C. Hospital,.Shooters Hill, S.E., suffering from infantile paralysis.
Her condition was grave; she was to became a mother.
So that her paralysed breathing muscles could be made to function she was kept in an iron lung.
At one time her life and that of her unborn child were despaired of, but suddenly she showed signs that she would be able to breathe again by herself.
And the tiny life within her be- gan to breathe again, too.
Now she is so much better that she is able to spend three hours outside her iron prison every day.
And the doctors tell her not to worry as she should be out of the lung altogether--if not out of the hospital-before the birth of her baby in little more than two months' time.
