No Perturbation In London Over
U.S. Silver Policy
London, To-day. While surprised, London silver quarters are not un- duly perturbed by reports of pressure being brought on the United States Government to ban purchases of foreign silver.
While it is realised that such purchases can not go on forever, well-informed sources are of the opinion that their termination under existing conditions could only lead to a sharp fall in the price of the metal.
H.M.S. THANET IN JUNK
CAPTURE AFFAIR
The timely appearance of the local defence vessel H.M.S. Thanet off Mirs Point on Tues- day last was responsible for a Japanese armed trawler releas- ing a Chinese junk which had been captured - a few minutes earlier, it has just been re- vealed.
Thanet was following in the wake of the trawler when the latter vessel evidently turned loose the junk which they were attempting to "pirate."
Thanet reports that they saw no firing by the trawler on or across the bows of the junk.
