Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson, of Wallsend and Walker-on-Tyne, have been awarded a £1,800,000 contract to build coastal vessels for Turkey. But so long has been the depression that one firm which re- cently advertised for skilled men had 1,000 applications yet less than 100 were suitable for modern me- thods.

Sir George Rowley, Bart, was cited as co-respondent when Mr. John Neville Parker, managing di- rector of Overseas Communications of South Africa, Ltd., was granted a decreo nisi by Mr. Justice Lang- ton in the Divorce Court because of the adultery of his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Alice Parker. The suit was not defended.
