"Y' Ladies & St. Andrew's Clash In Deciding Fixture: Mrs. Burke For England

MISS E. GRAY RE-APPEARS IN H.K. LADIES' TEAM: INTERESTING JUNIOR ENCOUNTERS

(By "STICKS")

After a month's interval, Ladies' Hockey resumes this after- noon with a full programme of two Caer C'ark and four Brawn Cup matches. The clash between "Y" Ladies and St. Andrew's Ladies, in the senior League, is probably the most important fixture of the season as the result will definitely decide the venue of the trophy.

In the Junior League, both Seaforth Ladies and Hong Kong Ladies have retained their 100 per cent. record, but have not yet met. Their clash on Saturday, January 21, will probably decide the junior championship.`

"Y" Ladies seniors will be at o full strength against St. An- drew's Ladies, although at one time there was some doubt as to whether Miss Anne Fow.er, their left-back, would play, as she had been under doctor's orders recent- ly.

To Take Part

Johannesburg, To-day. South Africa's team för the third test match against the M.C.C. (England) which will commence at Durban on January 20 will be as follows:

Alan Melville (Captain), Bruce Mitchell, A. D. Nourse, P. Van der Byl, A. L. Dalton, N. K. Viljoen, N.! Gordon, A. B. C. Langton, W. W. Wade, E. Q. Davies.

The eleventh place will probably be filled by either E. A. Rowan or Harry Sparks, of the Orange Free State, who has been invited to attend Durban.

Police against Navy at the Valley is acknowledged as one of the most should develop into a tussle between brilliant outfielders in the Domin- bowlers and batsmen. Police have ion.

"Y" Ladies will, however, short- ly miss the services of their right- back, Mrs. Burke, who is leaving for England on January 23, and who will leave an important gap in the defence which will be hard to fill.
