CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING
Berlin, To-day.
A German-Spanish cultural agree- ment between Germany and Nation- alist Spain is now practically ready for signing, negotiations during re- cent weeks having come to a satis- factory conclusion.
The agreement will be similar to those concluded with Hungary, Italy and Japan.
Following the method pursued in earlier cultural agreements, provi- sion will be made for a German Spanish Cultural Committee which will meet at regular intervals for the purpose of executing the terms of the agreement.--Trans-Ocean.

Peter Romeis, aged 21, and a 16- year-old fellow German, were com- mitted to the House of Detention until arrangement is made to send them home, by Mr. E. Himsworth this morning at Kowloon.
They were charged with being stowaways and with entering the Colony without a valid passport.
It was stated that they were found on board the Empress of Japan from Manila.
Defendants said that they had no food for about ten days in Manila and thought it was easier to get a ship in Hong Kong for Germany than in Manila.
