INTERESTING CRICKET

OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

I really cannot decide where should start my cricket notes this à small pro- week. There was gramme on Saturday, more on Mon- day, more on Tuesday and we reach Wednesday and another match- Army v Navy--has just commenced. I don't see how I can deal with this game in the current issue al-

though yesterday morning produced some extremely good cricket in glorious weather.

Saturday's Games

THE OLD AND NEW L.B.W. RULES

(By “ADREM”)

of

In order to clear up an argu- ment and for the benefit

the those who have not seen text of the new rule, I am pub- lishing the appended:

The new rule reads as fol- lows:

"If with any part of his person (except his hand) which is between wicket and wicket he intercept a ball, which in the opinion of the umpire at the bowler's wicket, shall have been pitched in a straight line from the bowler's wicket to the striker's wicket or shall have been pitched on the off-side of the striker's wicket and would have hit it:-(Wisden's 1938).

The old rule says:

"If with any part of his person he stops the ball, which in the opinion of the umpire at the bowler's wicket, shall have been pitched in a straight line from it to the striker's wicket and, would have hit it." (Wisden's 1937).

Navy's Fine Recovery In T.T. Cricket Encounter

Fine Batting By Lt.-Cdr. Kennedy

Feature of the second match in the Triangular Tournament cricket series played at H.K.C.C. yesterday between Army and Navy was the excellent bowling of Capt. Godby, for Army, and Marine Moores, of Navy.

almost unplayable in the morning when the dazzling sunshine made the light difficult. He raced off a hard and fiery wicket to take 6 for 20.

At one period of Navy's innings, when all batsmen but Manners had failed, they had lost seven wicket
