Berlin, To-day.
Germany appears to be highly satisfied at the out-
come of the Lima Conference.
The fact that the Argentine resolution on solidarity was passed instead of the much sharper anti- Fascist United States resolution, is generally welcomed here.
The "Berliner Tageblatt" says of the Latin-American States," says that the United States delegate re- the paper. turned home with well-nigh empty hands, the agreement reached be- ing the least binding of pacts and does not say what Washington and especially Wall Street wanted to
hear.

REASON "FOUND"
Political quarters suggest that the attitude of the United States towards Germany, as evidenced by the speech of Mr. Harold Ickes, Secretary of Interior, and the se- is due to disappointment quels, over the outcome of the Lima Con- ference.
The report that President Roose- velt had been awarded the Hebrew Medal for 1938 for inaugurating the Evian Conference for helping Jews, is generally made the occa- sion for fresh attacks on the Unit- ed States.
The "Boersen Zeitung says that this confirms everything said in the German press about relations between the American Government and International Jewry.-Reuter.
SHARP GERMAN CRITICISM OF MR. ICKES
Berlin, To-day.
Sharp criticism of what is re- garded as the extraordinary be- haviour of Mr. Harold Ickes, the United States' Secretary of Interior, again appears in the German press following a new "incident" which
is reported to have occurred when Mr. Ickes received a number of press representatives' yesterday.
Mr. Ickes said he would leave the task of replying to the German` protest to be dealt with by "our very capable State Department." Until the Department had answer- ed the Nazi Government, he was obliged to refrain from making comment.
The "Berliner Lokal Anzeiger" writes? "It would be easy to leave this stupid company to their ab- surdities if the whole matter were not intended as an attempt to set public opinion against Germany.
"We have of late had repeated occasion to draw attention to this man who sheds lustre on the White House by seeking with all means at its disposal to create differences between Germany and the United States.
"We had hoped that there would be at least some-one 'In North America, who would call him to order by a restraining tap on the shoulder. :
This "scene" and many others, prove, however, that this hope is misplaced. It would appear that this colleague of the President has full permission to please himself by following up his challenges with acts of provocation,”Trans- Ocean.
