Arrangements at every meeting have been carried out with that degree of efficiency for which the Hong Kong Jockey Club has won unstinted appreciation, and I for one would like to extend con- gratulations to all concerned for the manner in which the general public has been catered for.

THE OWNERS Among the owners, Mr. Eu Tong-sen secures top honours, for which he has had a good deal to thank for the superb riding of his stable jockey, Mr. Encar- nacho, assisted to a certain extent by Mr. Poy.

Mr. Li Lan-sang comes next, follow- ed by Messrs. L. Dunbar, and Li Po- chun, and Mrs. Dunbar, As the owner of only one pony, Mr. Moller can claim to having accomplished the greatest achievement with Silkylight, a pony that has established itself as being the most outstanding abong the griffins, China ponies.

NEW GRIFFINS

In dealing with the griffins, China ponies, of this year, one cannot help being impressed by the wonderful per- formances of Silkylight throughout the year. It started off by winning the Maiden Stakes, the Hong Kong Derby, and then inflicted on Liberty Bay its first defeat, in the Champions at the Annual Race Meeting. It then cop- tinued merrily on to win other races, including the St. Leger, in which the record was lowered (unofficially), and at the last meeting it capped Its bril- llant career by winning the Autumn Champions.

It not only won this event fairly' oasily, but it smashed the record for the distance, which had been proudly held by Liberty Bay.

CONFUSION BAY'S IMPROVEMENT The next best pony in line of merit is undoubtedly Confusion Bay, which has made steady improvement after the Summer interval. It had two wins to its credit, the Hong Kong Griffins
