TWO SHOT IN ARMED RAID ACROSS BORDER
A tale of robbery and sudden death was revealed to the Police in a report this morning from the New Territories.
In the course of a robbery by four men, one of whom was armed with an automatic pistol, a refugee from Chinese Territory named Fong Cheung-kiu, fell beneath a volley of shots, and a man named Fong Cheung-ming was shot in the left leg, whilst lying asleep in a corner of the house.
After robbing the inmates of the house, the armed marauders left the dead and wounded men behind them and made off in the direction of Chinese Territory, which at this point is only 150 yards from the village.
The alarm was raised and the son of the owner of the village lime- kiln opened fire with a rifle. Owing to the darkness it was not possible
to ascertain the effect of his fire.
TRIED TO LEAVE The police report said that at about 1 a.m. to-day, the robbers en- tered a house in Muk Fu Village, Sheung Shui and awakened the in- mates by shouting "search."
