VERY GAME LOSER
One of the gamest displays of boxing during the four days was witnessed in Boys' Middleweight Championship, when Boy Campbell, of H. M. S. Kent, gained a technical-knockout decision over Boy Ferguson.
Ferguson lost the fight when he became erratic and waded in with his head down, taking heavy punish- ment in the last round when he was sent down three times, but rose to his feet again amidst terrific ap plause only to collapse a fourth, time, when the fight was stopped. The referee congratulated him a very plucky display and he was given a great ovation.
VIA SAME ROUTE
on
Ord. Sea. Howson won the Ama- teur Heavyweight Championship by the same method in which he en- tered the final round, the knock- out route. He was, if anything, the lighter of the two finalists, but bided his time and eventually rocked Mne. Tucker with a terrific blow to the head and one to the solar-plexus, sending his opponent down for the final count after 65 seconds.
to
Ldg. Sto. Clarke, of H. M. S. Kent, also won his Amateur Welter- weight Championship by a knock- out, landing a damaging blow A. B. Conlon's solar-plexus after a minute's mad scramble and the lat~ ter was grovelling when the fight was awarded to Clarke.
At the conclusion of each of the finals, trophies and miniatures were present to the winners and runners- up by the Senior Naval Officer,
Captain F. R. Barry, R.N., of H. M.
