ASSISTANCE TO CHINA New Provisions In Export Credits Bill Scope Enlarged To Include Political Credits

London, To-day.

The text of the Export Credits Guarantees Bill shows that the Government have had within a year to increase the statutory levies of their guarantees under the export credits guarantee scheme from £50,000,000 to £75,000,000.

This reflects the increased use exporters are mak-

ing of the scheme.

The Bill empowers the Board of Trade, without necessarily consult- ing the advisory committee on ex- port credits, to cover the export of goods

which on conditions. are not strictly on a commercial basis but which, from the national viewpoint, are well worth doing.

Under this proposal, war muni- tions could be obtained if the guar- antees are satisfactory.

Government commitments under this proposal are limited to £10,- 000,000.

POLITICAL REASONS Under the present scheme it is contemplated that assistance be given to a large number of small transactions.
