HUNGARY MEET SCOTLAND TO-MORROW

LADIES JUNIOR HOCKEY REVIEWED

(Continued from Page 22)

She received a fair measure of support from Mrs. White, but Miss Turbyne is still a weak link al- though a hard trier.

"Y" attack had the speed and a sound inside trio of which Miss V. Bradbury and Miss N. Eardley were the best. Miss Eardley, though making a comeback to the game, has developed into a dangerous for-

ward and should

be coached 80

as to fill any possible vacancy in the senior team.

Recreio Ladies are to be admired for the spirit in which they play their games,

The result matters

to them so long as they! little have their fun. while it must also be remembered that most of them are mera novices at the game. The main thing, however, is that they are keen and willing to learn.

Diocesan Girls Drop

Two Points

A

Diocesan Girls were unfortunate to drop two-points to Seaforth- Ladies on the D.G.S. ground. The Schoolgirls' defence displayed disinclination to tackle the oppos- ing forwards until it was too late. and this often resulted-in-a-Sea-- forth player reaching the edge of the circle before any attempt was made to prevent her shooting.

a

Miss Ada Chang made an admir- able leader for the Schoolgirls' un- til her injury, and might have scor- ed if given better support by her inside-forwards, but as it was, she had to forage for herself. Miss C Kotewall, on the left-wing, was al- 80 a trier, but lacked any help from heps supporting half- back. Miss P. Dodd, at centre- half, struck an off-day and as result Seaforth Ladies made the best of their opportunities.

The Scots' Ladles are a formid. able lot and as this is probably their last year in the Colony, arr making every effort to win the Brawn Cup which is well with- in their grasp. They have workmanlike team and, although lacking the advice of coaches have so far proved themselves very cap- able.

players from whom the team to meet Scotland 'n G'asgow, to-morrow will be.. chosen have been selected by the Hungarian Football Federa- tion.

They are:-

Goal--Szabo, Sziklaf, and Csikos. Full Backs Polgar, Biro, Kor-

anvi, and Olajkar.

-

Half Barks-Lazar, Szalai, Sarosi, Balogh, Tural, Szyos, Dudas, Balogh, and Szalai. Forwards-Kincses, Beki, Cseh,'

Vincze, Palva, Zsengeller, Sarost Klazely, Toldi, Gvetval, and Titkos. There seems little doubt that, Hungary will make a big effort to beat Scotland, and. provided that they are able to call on the best of the players selected for the match at Glasgow, there is no reason why 'hev should not give their more ex- perienced nononents a hard game.

NINE FORMER PLAYERS Included in the selection are nine of the players who played against England at Highbury in 1936. One of these. G. Zsengeller, plaved at inside left for the Rest of Europe in the match against England at Highbury recently.

One of the most colourful mem- bers of the side is Dr. G. Sarosi, the 27-year-old centre-forward. Sarosi, a stylish player with excel- !ent ball control, is the idol of Hun- rarian football enthusiasts. He has been capned for his country 48 times, and is known as "the football magician."

The team's strongest defences: challengers for the title are Hong Kong Ladies, but I think they will carry the day when the two teams

meet.

Recreio "A" Halves In Limelight

Outstanding feature of the game between Recreio "A" and St. An- drew's Ladies was the sterling work of the Portuguese half- back trio, Miss M. Silva, Miss P. Gonsalves and Mrs. L. Silva, all three of whom rendered invaluable service in breaking up the Saints' attacks before they developed into potential goals.

Miss M. da Roza (inside-right) and Miss A. Alves (inside-left), were very dangerous on occasion and the latter scored a grand open- ing goal with a first-time effort.

For St. Andrew's, Mrs. Rose, making her first appearance be- tween the sticks since her return from England, has not yet settled down. ; - Miss Mabol Churn, at con- tre-forward and Miss Stella Ro- berts, at inside-left, were the pick of the Saints attack, although overcrowding, in the circle lost them several chances,
