PARIS LABOUR CHILDREN'S PUZZLE | SPAIN GETTING
DECREE ENDS 40-HOUR WEEK
Paris, To-day.
The Ministry of Finance has issued a statement regarding the measures which the Cabinet has approved and which will be pub- lished in the “Journal, Official.” Among the most important these measures are those dealing with hours of. work.
of
The fort-hour week is retained in principle, but the, five-day week will be progressively abolished and replaced by a six-day week or, in certain branches of industry, by а 5-1/2 day week.
a
All undertakings are granted so-called "credit of 50 supplemen- tary hours per week and will not in future, require special authorisa- tion to impose extra hours.
Henceforth, it will suffice if they! inform the Ministry of Labour of other intention. In the case nf necessity, undertakings may
re- quire a further 10 hours of supple- mentary work provided they simi: larly inform the Ministry. Should the latter not reply within ten days this must be interpreted as approval. Hence the system of un- limited hours of work is reintroduc- ed in practice, and the intervention of the Ministry of Labour will be limited to removal or prevention of abuses.

The Nationalist Government protests against granting of such a loan, since it would mean only prolongation of the war and was therefore anythings else but human.
