JEWS REJECT AND ARABS NOT PLEASED BY THE WOODHEAD REPORT

London, To-day.

In the course of a preliminary statement on the Palestine Commission's Report, the Jewish Agency says that having broken up the exist- ing National Home, the Commission proceeds to abolish the Balfour Declaration and the Jewish national home provisions of the man- date as far as nineteen-twentieths of Western `Palestine are concerned.

The Agency declares that there can be no question of the Report serving as basis for negotiations between Jews and Arabs, or between the Jew- ish Agency and the. British Government." After stating that the neighbour- ing Arab states have no special, status as regards Palestine, the statement concludes that the Agency can be party to further discussions on the basis of the Balfour Declara- tion and the mandate.

ARAB VIEWS

Arab reaction is given by Izzat Tannous, director of the Arab Cen- tre, representing the Arab cause in London.

After seeing the Dominions Se- cretary, Izzat Tannous declared in an interview that he welcomed ab- andonment of the ides, of partition and the decision that all Arab coun- tries are to have a voice in- safe- guarding the future of Palestine, but he regretted the absence of recognition: of the natural rights of the Arabs to govern their national land.

Moreover, he said, no Arab will participate in negotiations from which any of their responsible lead- ers are excluded. Reuter.
