JAPANESE AMBUSHED TO NORTH OF CANTON Heavy Casualties Inflicted Near Tsungfa Chinese Admit Samshui Again In Japanese Hands

Wuchow, To-day.

A Chinese ambuscade near Leunghowhu, about 27 kilometres northeast of Tsungfa and 40 kilo- metres west of Lungmoon, yesterday caused heavy casualties in the Japanese ranks. Newly-organised Chinese guerilla bands in Kwang- tung have swung into action. They are re- ported to be attacking Fatshan, ten miles south-west of Canton, and are harassing the Japanese in occupied towns.

Samshui, at the western terminus of, the Canton- Samshui Line, about 25 miles west of Canton, which was recently recaptured by Chinese troops, has changed hands again as a result of a Japanese counter-offensive, according to a report from Szewui.
